Reaching Out to Others

St. Joseph’s Orphanage

St. Joseph Orphanage began as a traditional orphanage. Recently, however, the St. Joseph Orphanage has been a facility which provides care for children with mental health or developmental disabilities. At St. Joseph Orphanage these kids participate in a number of different programs designed to provide educational and community treatment programs.

Last year some of the employees of O’Connor, Acciani & Levy were given a tour of the St. Joseph Orphanage Altercrest facility. During this tour they were able to meet some of the staff of the orphanage, all of whom were extremely warm and friendly. It is obvious that the men and women who work and volunteer at the orphanage really care about these children, and they go the extra mile to help make their lives better.

During this tour the OAL employees were also able to see some of the programs that the orphanage staff provides for the kids. In one class the children were learning how to make food from around the world. In another area, older children were living in a dormitory-like environment to learn self-sufficiency to prepare for transition into independent living.

Each year the children create a wish list of the things they would like for Christmas. The list includes many necessities such as clothes, shoes and baby items as well as some toys. This year the employees of OAL committed to fulfilling the wish lists for a group boys and girls to make the holiday season a little more special for those less fortunate.

Holly Hill Children’s Services

Each year the employees at OAL make a donation in the name of the Partners of the firm. This year the charity chosen was Holly Hill Children’s Services. Holly Hill is a social service agency located in Northern Kentucky. It was chartered in 1883 as a Campbell County Protestant orphan’s home.

The employees raised $1,200 that was sent to Holly Hill for programs such as residential treatment, foster care
and adoption, therapy services and others. This past year Holly Hill served over 1,400 children in the Northern Kentucky area.

We are very proud that our employees have gone out of their way to share this season’s goodwill and make this time of year a good one for those who are often forgotten. If you would like to join our efforts for the 2012 Christmas season, then contact us at reaching.out@oal-law.com.
