Butler County Crash Ejects Driver, Makes Eighth Fatal Accident Of 2015

Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating an automotive accident near Cincinnati it says marks the eighth deadly car crash of the year. On Monday night, a pickup truck driver was ejected from his vehicle after colliding head-on with a tractor-trailer in Wayne Township on Ohio 73 near Jacksonburg Road. Officers responded to the crash at approximately 9 p.m. The driver of the pickup truck, a male, died. The tractor-trailer took eight hours to be removed from the ditch along 73. The road was finally reopened just before 6 a.m. this morning. The name of the deceased driver is being withheld until the family is notified, Butler County Sheriffs officers say. There is currently no cause for the two-car accident, though investigators continue to work toward establishing one. Further details will likely be released later Tuesday.

Fatal Accidents In Butler This Year

OSHP says that Butler County's auto accident fatalities have risen to double the current numbers in Hamilton County, which is a complete reversal of the same statistics from last year. In 2013 and 2014, officers say there were 79 deadly accidents in Hamilton County but only 45 in Butler County. The number of fatal crashes in Butler County since January 1 is also much greater than those in surrounding areas. Warren County has had three fatalities while Clermont County has had only one.
