Authorities say the accident happened just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, at the intersection of E. Broad Street and N. Waggoner Road. While the multiple car crash remains under investigation, authorities believe they have determined what happened in the moments leading up to the tragic moment. Authorities say the Hyundai Sonata was waiting to make a left-hand turn at the intersection when it was hit from behind by the Kia SUV. That collision appears to have started a chain reaction. Officials say the force from the collision pushed the SUV into traffic traveling west, where it was hit on the driver side by a pick-up truck. The 28-year-old driver of the SUV was pronounced dead on the scene. Both drivers of the other two vehicles, a GMC and a Sonata are expected to make full recoveries. There were early reports that a semi-truck was involved, but we are still trying to confirm those details. The accident, which brought traffic around the area to a standstill for hours, remains under investigation.
