Four Fatal Accidents In One Week In Mahoning County

After a deadly week on the roads in Mahoning County, Ohio State Highway Patrol is asking that motorists make smart driving decisions while behind the wheel. Four fatal accidents have occurred in the last week and there have been a total of 13 fatal crashes in the county so far this year all of which were preventable. Driver error, distraction and negligence are a few of the leading causes of auto accidents across the country. If a negligent driver caused an accident where you were injured, contact the auto accident lawyers at O'Connor, Acciani & Levy. The Canfield patrol post is currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015. According to troopers, a motorcyclist was hit from behind by a Chevrolet sedan as he was attempting to turn into a private driveway on U.S. Route 62 in Smith Township. Police have reported that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries. According to highway patrol officers, three additional fatal accidents happened in the several days leading up to the motorcycle accident. On Thursday, July 30, a South Carolina man was killed in an accident when his horse trailer crashed on I-76 in Lake Milton. According to reports, the driver was attempting to change lanes when his truck struck a nearby car, rolled on its side and hit a bridge before hitting the back of a semi-truck. The following day, a woman died and seven others were injured in a fiery crash on the Ohio Turnpike after a commercial truck failed to stop for slowing traffic and barreled through multiple vehicles. On Monday, Aug. 3, a 21-year-old woman died after she lost control of her car, causing the vehicle to flip onto its roof. Troopers do not believe that the woman was wearing a seatbelt. Auto accidents can have devastating effects, especially if the accident or death could have been avoided by a driver paying more attention or buckling up while behind the wheel.
