Ohio Resident Flees As Truck Crashes Into House
A Madison Township, Ohio, resident says she is lucky to be alive following an early morning truck accident in which a driver lost control of her vehicle and crashed into the residents house.
The accident occurred Friday morning on Route 122, a road known for its sharp curves and hilly terrain.
The resident, who had just moved into the home eight days prior, was asleep in a second story bedroom when the accident occurred. No other residents were home at the time.
Wet Roads And Speeding May Have Been A Factor
At approximately 7:30 a.m. Friday morning, a truck traveling along Route 122 lost control and drove off the road, broke through a chain link fence, and slammed into the side of the residents home before coming to a stop in the first floor living room.
The home, which was built in 1827, sits within a few feet of the twisty road and is located just after a sharp bend.
The resident believes that sturdy logs used in the homes construction helped keep it from collapsing on top of her as she attempted to escape after the crash. The driver of the truck also escaped with minor injuries.
According to the resident, this is not the first time the house has been hit by a vehicle. However, following Fridays accident, the house sustained enough damage to be condemned.
Authorities believe the homes close proximity to the road, as well as slick driving conditions, both contributed to the crash. It is not yet known if the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol or if she was texting and driving during the accident.
Although many motorists have been known to drive fast on Route 122, it is also not yet known if speeding played a factor in the accident. Regardless, local residents feel the roads speed limit needs to be lowered following Fridays potentially deadly accident.
