A 15-year-old girl sustained life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle in College Hill on Thursday morning. According to reports, a 17-year-old was driving in the 2800 block of W. North Bend Road at about 7:45 a.m. when he struck the young girl. Police believe that since it was still dark outside, it likely contributed to the collision. The victim was transported to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and she remains in critical condition. Police are still investigating what caused the crash and if the driver will face any charges. The majority of Ohio car accidents occur during daylight hours, but more than 300 fatal collisions still occur when it is dark outside. Many accidents also occur at dawn and dusk when it can be difficult for drivers to see as the sun rises and sets. As we exit daylight savings time, drivers should be extra cautious on the roads. Time changes notoriously leads to many more motor vehicle accidents as everyone adjusts to the new hours.
