Toyota Recalls Lexus Vehicles Due To Fire Threat

Toyota has announced that they are recalling about 423,000 older model Lexus luxury cars in the United States as the gasket can leak fuel and possibly cause a fire. On Wednesday, Oct. 15, Toyota announced three global recalls that would affect 1.7 million vehicles. The Lexus recall covers the LS model from 2007-2010, as well as the 2006-2011 GS and IS models. Additionally, the 2010 IS-C and 2008 IS-F have been affected. According to Toyota, the fuel system gasket can become degraded and leak. However, no fires, crashes or injuries have been reported. Toyota says that will notify affected Lexus owners by mail beginning in December as the company makes the parts and develops a tool needed to replace the gasket. In 2009, the company recalled some Lexus IS and LS models due a potential corrosion of the fuel rails and that results in fuel leakage and possible a fire.
