Takata Corp., one of the worlds largest airbag manufacturers, agreed to issue a nationwide recall of all defective Takata airbags in May 2015. In light of the Takata recall announcement, auto manufacturers have spent the last month scrambling to identify all of the affected vehicles and issue necessary recalls. Each week since the recall notice was issued, has brought a deluge of recall announcements and this week is no different. In the most recent recall, Mazda has been forced to notify all Mazda owners that many older Mazda models were being recalled. Many Americans have been affected by the Takata recalls. If you have been injured in an accident, your accident injuries may have been caused by more than just negligence. If a recalled auto part was a factor in your accident, you may be entitled to financial compensation. At O'Connor, Acciani & Levy, we have fought large insurance companies and manufacturers for decades. Mazda has identified that cars it manufactured as early as 2003 were sold with defective Takata airbags. The recall is not limited to Mazda vehicles in the United States, but also covers some 35,000 pickup trucks sold in Canada. Affected Mazda vehicles include:
- Mazda 6 (2003-08)
- Mazda Speed 6 (2006-07)
- Mazda RX-8 (2004-08)
- Mazda pickups (2004-06)
