Toddler Hit By Car In West Columbus

A 2-year-old boy is in serious condition after he was hit by a car on Thursday night and rushed to a local hospital. According to Columbus Police, Ashley McCauslin and her son were leaving a McDonald's restaurant around 10 p.m. near the intersection of West Broad Street and Florence Avenue. The toddler was in the stroller when a Honda Accord traveling eastbound on West Broad Street struck the mother and her son. The driver of the Honda was identified as 19-year-old Guillermo Vazquez. Police are working on determining exactly what happened, but they have said that neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash. The toddler was transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital where he remains in serious condition while his mother is in stable condition at Mount Carmel West Hospital.
